REAL SHIPS LOCATION
The Heart Of Steel Boatbuilding
Real Ships is located in south Mobile County, the nexus of Alabama’s steel boatbuilding industry. Modern Mobile Bay derives more than half its annual wealth from activities dependent upon and allied to waterborne commerce, while shipbuilding alone in Mobile County has an estimated payroll of $30 million.* Our facility is the first solely custom yacht operation in the center of this thriving commercial shipbuilding community. We are not a workboat builder dabbling in yachts as a sideline; we only build luxury long-range yachts.
Because of the region’s established shipbuilding culture, Real Ships has local access to a broad array of resources, skilled workers and industry subcontractors, allowing us to build with the finest in materials and labor.
One of the common threads uniting the commercial and recreational builders of the Mobile area is that they all recognize the many benefits of building with steel. Steel has long been acknowledged as the premier choice in commercial shipbuilding for its strength and durability; its versatility makes it a desirable choice for custom luxury yacht construction as well. Mobile County’s boatyards have well-established suppliers to meet the high demand. Not until you visit the Real Ships yard in Bayou La Batre and environs do you really start to grasp the amount and scope of ship construction taking place in the area.

Visiting Real Ships
We strongly encourage anyone interested in building a Real Ships yacht to visit the yard, and see where all the action takes place. We are proud of our team and our facilities, and think it’s important you get to know who will be building your vessel. It’s much easier to visualize how your yacht will come to life as you inspect the climate-controlled cabinetry shop, fabrication building, paint tent and operations office, and put a face with the names of the project managers, welders, painters, carpenters and electricians who will be working for you.
